The building is arranged around a central courtyard with a large tree as the main feature. The courtyard brings natural light and views of greenery deep into the space so that on the upper floors inhabitants of the villa might sometimes feel that they are “in the boughs of a tree”. Deeply recessed terraces line the upper floor and create a perimeter around the rooms to shade full-glazed windows and give outdoor space for relaxation. The house attempts to draw the outside in while making the surrounding views more accessible fromthis hilltop site.
