Retro Africa is an art platform and community for art enthusiasts, curators and collectors and has exhibited contemporary African art in Lagos, Abuja, London, Marrakesh, Cape Town and New York.
This project re-purposes an old building for use as a contemporary art gallery for Retro Africa in Abuja. By enlarging the windows and simplifying the interior finishes, light is allowed to penetrate deeper into the space with the lush green exteriors below and views of the city beyond on display. A central void in the upper gallery is exposed to reveal the timber roof trusses.
